Quality Assuring a Ring Vortex Flow Phantom in Real-Time

Introduction: The ring vortex phantom is a novel, cost-effective prototype which generates complex and well-characterised reference flows in the form of vortex. Although its reproducibility has been demonstrated, with speeds routinely behaving within 10% tolerances at approximately 10 - 70 cm/s, real-time QA device time imaging needed to confirm correct function on demand any environment. Methods: technology described here achieves QA, comprising linear encoder, laser-photodiode array, Doppler probe, measuring piston motion, speed intra-ring velocity respectively. This instrumentation does not interfere system but allows be performed both real-time. Results: encoder reports reliability profile, whilst measured by laser behaviour. Incorporation calibrated probe offers consistency check that confirms behaviour central axial flow. For purposes gold-standard measurement, all elements can related previous Laser PIV acquisitions same settings. Conclusion: Consequently, production confirmed this instrumentation, delivering accurate implementation procedure exceeds anything seen literature, providing enhance quantitative assessment flow modalities.
